Science: Plants & Natural Things

In this workshop pupils observe, investigate and explore plant life. Examining samples under a microscopic camera, pupils have the chance to take close-up photographs of different parts of common plants and to describe their appearance and function. They then apply their knowledge of the needs plants to choose a location within the CLC for us to place a real living plant.

Geography & Habitats

This workshop invites pupils to explore different localities and regions using Google Earth, Maps and Street View to gain a deeper understanding of the different types of habitat to which plants and animals have adapted. As well as exploring real world locations they visit simulated environments in Minecraft, using their findings to produce an environmental factfile about different habitats.

Robot Orchestra Maker Day

In this workshop pupils extend their knowledge of circuits by designing, building and programming their own electronic orchestra. They get the chance to try the BBC’s smart new electronic device, the Micro:bit, thanks to our partnership in the BBC’s Make It Digital initiative.
