Approaching Online Safety with KS1

Safer Internet Day is nearly upon us with February 6th a few hours away. How to broach afresh this area with younger children without upsetting or scaring them? The UK Safer Internet Centre has found a way with their resources for KS1. As well as an assembly presentation and script about 3 monsters (NOT scary!) who collaborate on a piece of artwork, but who are somewhat upset by a careless remark by another classmate in their class online gallery, there are plenty of ideas for quick activities in class that could provide relevant focus for the whole of Safer Internet week and make sure that all children are included in school wide celebration.

It’s not too late to download from https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/2018/sid2018-education-packs/education-pack-3-7s.

There you will also find a link to SID TV that has a short clip featuring the friendly puppets Red and Murphy, familiar from previous years. All this, plus lesson plans, and a quiz! Make sure you have considered using the range of content from UK safer internet centre, all for free!
