On the 25th of March , London CLC and IBM Southbank will be joining up once again to celebrate ten years of our popular Robo Challenge competition which has seen hundreds of primary school children get together to compete in a range of programming challenges. This year we have 12 schools from across London taking part – making 2016 our biggest year yet!
Each team is given a Lego NXT kit, an IBM mentor and have six weeks to prepare for a series of exciting events such as:
Robo Racing – Teams redesign and soup-up their Lego NXTs to drag race head to head. The fastest robot across the line wins.
Strictly Robo Dancing – This event encourages teams to agree on technical programming, rhythm and choreography – as well as a choosing a song.
Best Dressed Robot – The NXT beauty pageant is open for business. May the best dressed, most zainy looking robot win!
Rubbish Robots – A chance to show off the artistic talent in the team in the rubbish robot competition, where pupils are challenged to create a punk-junk robot that helps the planet.
‘Unseen’ X-Factor Challenge – Two top programmers from each team gather to get instructions for a top secret mission which will test their computational skills against the clock.
May the best team win!
