Building on the popularity of the CLC’s previous professional development sessions to support reading for pleasure and writing, this academic year we are running a whole-day conference for English subject leaders and teachers interested in literacy.
The conference will explore the current context of the English curriculum and showcase practical ideas to encourage a book rich environment in school, where children talk about books and create responses to their pleasure in reading using digital technologies.
Sessions will include:
- Reading for pleasure, online book reviews and digital books
- Games, virtual worlds and writing
- Digital writing and blogging
- Creating audio poetry collections
- Green screen, dramatising books
- Animation for literacy
By attending this course teachers will understand the opportunities offered by digital writing and publishing, have a range of ideas and activities for engaging children in reading and writing and feel confident using a variety of apps and software.
