Virtual worlds, blockify and evidence and assessment

Straight back in at the deep end this week!

Virtual Reality and the Microbit
Half term gave the team plenty of opportunity to experiment with some new ideas. Rowan has been working on all things virtual reality, looking at ways to incorporate Google Cardboard into exciting learning experiences for pupils next year. Meanwhile, Joe and our special guest tutor Jon Chippendale have been working on the BBC Microbit, exploring how we can incorporate it into our Electricity and Circuits workshop. Watch this space!

Blokify and 3D Printing
We travelled to Holy Trinity Primary for Blockify training on Wednesday – helping staff get to grips with the app and kick off their very exciting whole school 3D printing project.

Family Learning
Our family learning team have been busy running courses across the borough this week – lots of beautiful traditional stories told in Family Animation and a great session at Lark Hall Children’s Centre working with parents to design our brand new Digital Champions programme.

Evidence and Assessment
On Thursday we ran a very successful Evidence and Assessment across the curriculum CPD, a huge thank you to all the teachers who shared their ideas and expertise. The day explored ways to use digital technologies to evidence children’s learning e.g screen casts for self-assessment, blogs, and Google Apps for education. For more information about using digital technologies for evidencing and assessing children’s work please contact us.

Google Apps
Luis and Peter ran training on Google Apps for staff at Orchard Primary. Great ideas for collaborating. Talk to the tech team if you’d like to know how you could use apps in school.
