Earlier this month Lambeth CLC hosted our first ever dedicated Primary Maths conference. Attendees looked at how ICT could be used to support maths, with a focus on how ICT could be used to investigate tricky mathematical concepts.
The day began with a very brief history of maths controversies in UK schools from CLC Director Sarah Horrocks. Followed by an overview of how ICT can be used to support maths from CLC ICT Tutor Joe Halloran. Have a look at the slides from Joe’s speech below:
Then attendees split up into different workshops to look at some of these topics in more detail.

How to use spreadsheets for data handling or for modelling and simulation
How to use programming languages like Scratch to bring maths to life
How to use multimedia to promote talk for maths
